Built in 1915, the Pennsylvania Railroad Freight Locomotive number 7688 was displayed in the Rairoad Museum of Pennsylvania at Strasburg. Huge windows flank the gigantic main display rooom for the museum on every side. Visitors walk around what can be considered a self-contained train station, and can go right up to the trains and touch the exhibits.

The day was bright and sunny, with occasional cloud cover. The light coming in through the windows was soft and even. I set up my Wisner 4×5 with a 150mm lens and no polarizer. I knew, after about 5 minutes of composing under the darkcloth, that I finally had a shot worthy of telling the story of this magnificent machine. This is one of the last workhorse freight steam trains to remind us of the Golden Age of Railroading in America!
